Born in 1963 in Martinique and raised amid the lush nature of French Guiana, Agnès Etchegoyen has nurtured a singular perspective on the world since childhood. A self-taught photographer, she defines herself as an “image hunter,” standing at the frontier between dream and reality. Her imagination, both gentle and bold, gives rise to a unique universe — somewhere between contemporary graphic novel, visual enchantment, and the poetry of the elements.
At only fourteen, she seized her father’s professional camera to embark on a quest for precious instants, guided by visceral instinct and a fascination for nature. After a long pause, this passion was reborn a decade ago, when a digital camera became the natural extension of her eye and her sensitivity.
Her first photographic series explored her other passions: surfing, windsurfing, diving. Water, light, and movement form the thread of a vibrant visual language, imbued with dreamlike resonance and freedom. Each image signed Agnès Etchegoyen tells a suspended story — a moment captured at the threshold of emotion and magic.
