Séverine Egle

Art Collect - Severine-Egle

Born on 18 November 1977 in the South of France, Séverine Egle is a self-taught painter who has carried within her, since childhood, an irresistible need to create. Very early on, her pencil explored the contours of both reality and imagination. At twenty, brushes replaced graphite, and painting became her natural language — intuitive, expressive, instinctive. Oil paint first emerged as her medium of choice, already revealing a confident technique and a distinctive sensitivity.

But Séverine Egle’s artistic quest does not settle for stability. Curious, nomadic and driven by a need to be nourished by the world, she left her hometown with her family to immerse herself in new landscapes: the ochres of Toulouse, the light of Saint-Tropez, the effervescence of Paris… and finally Canada, where she lived for three years, letting each place infuse her palette and her vision. These experiences form an intimate map, where each stop enriches her artistic gesture.

After a period devoted entirely to motherhood, she returned to painting in 2019 with renewed energy. She exhibited a luminous, contemporary collection in Tarbes and soon entered the International Contemporary Artists catalogue. Now based in Béarn, she continues to create with the same freedom and inner drive. Her art crosses borders: in 2023, a New York gallery invited her to exhibit her work in the city that never sleeps.

The beating heart of her work? The sea. Ever-present as an original matrix, it inspires Séverine Egle to create vibrant, often dreamlike compositions that evoke ocean depths, shifting reflections of water and the mysteries of the abyss. Her work stands out through a unique approach to matter and light. She blends acrylic or oil with natural elements — sand, shells, stones, crystals — crafting textured, sensual canvases that feel almost alive.

In this reinvented world, she does not copy reality — she transcends it. Abstraction becomes a bridge between emotion and aesthetics, an invitation to dive into a universe that is both intimate and universal. Each piece is a fragment of feeling, an immersion into a delicate yet powerful world. The gaze wanders, softens, marvels.

Séverine Egle paints as one breathes: freely, deeply, sincerely. Through her work, she reminds us that art is sometimes a journey as much inward as it is sensory.
