Sculptor, painter, poet, lecturer… Philippe Lonzi escapes all labels and embraces creation as a state of being. A self-taught and inspired artist, he set out on the artistic path more than twenty years ago. From Castillon-du-Gard, this metal sculptor shapes steel with rare intensity. He bends it, cuts it, and elevates it to the rank of a sensitive material.

“I sculpt in steel as others sculpt in stone or wood,” he says simply. For him, the act of creation never looks back: “The past is already past.” It is the future that he observes, provokes and dreams. A prolific inventor, he has registered several patents in fields as varied as lighting design, signage and artwork mounting systems. Each sculpture carries its mark: an invention, a vision, a step forward.

Philippe Lonzi rejects recycling and works only with new steel sheets, in a pursuit of purity. Each piece is conceived, cut and adjusted by his own hand, without any external intervention. It is a matter of elegance, minimalism and clean lines.

But also of movement and light. During his exhibitions, Lonzi installs his own lighting systems, custom-designed to enhance his works. The steel suddenly breathes. It dances with shadow, vibrates under the lights, as if animated by a life of its own.

The artist even designs devices that highlight the surrounding space as much as the sculptures, turning each display into an immersive installation. A versatile and inspired creator, Philippe Lonzi has also navigated between electronics, architecture and staging.

This eclectic journey forms the foundation of his uniqueness. He does not create for himself, but for others: he shares, he transmits, he guides. He gives talks on art, advises artists and imagines new formats for artistic dissemination.

Among them is the DÉCO d’Art programme, designed for municipalities, which enables exhibitions in the windows of vacant shops. With both rigour and generosity, Lonzi has created fully turnkey tools: template contracts, letters to mayors, agreements with shop owners…
