Philibert Dubreuil is a French sculptor born in Agay, on the Mediterranean coast. From an early age, the red monoliths of Cap Dramont and the volcanic textures of the Rastel and Cap Roux shaped his curious hands. He touched, scraped and climbed the rocks; explored the textures of olive wood, cork oak and driftwood. Matter was his first language, touch his first memory.
As a teenager, Philibert sculpted his first busts. But a phrase from his father — “There is already an artist in the family” — put his vocation on pause. Following family expectations, he studied pharmacy and worked at the CNRS, Inserm and later in the family laboratory in Cannes. Yet the fire of creation smouldered. In 2009, he returned to the visual arts through classes at the Beaux-Arts in Cannes. In 2013, he deepened his practice of drawing and modelling with Anca Sonia in Grasse.
