Born in Beaune in 1973, David Arnaud has always perceived image as an intimate language. Since childhood, he would draw on anything he could find. Painting quickly became a free territory for him — a way of existing differently. Very early on, he felt it would be more than a pastime: a vital need.
Trained at the Émile Cohl School in Lyon, he developed a precise and sensitive style, first through illustration and comic art. Awarded for his watercolors in the 1980s, he could have continued along this classical path. But the call of gesture, breath, and instinct soon took over.
