Born in 1972 in Dijon,
Karine Langevin — who signs her work as KJL — now lives and works in Gif-sur-Yvette. Painting has always belonged to her inner landscape. A graduate in Fine Arts, she explored over the years various aesthetic currents and pictorial techniques, before fully embracing her vocation in 2005. In 2015, she joined the Taylor Foundation in Paris, and from 2019 onward, several galleries began representing her internationally.
KJL’s artistic approach is defined by a pursuit of pure emotion, crystallised through matter, light, and colour. The feminine face stands at the heart of her work — sometimes an icon of sensuality and strength, sometimes an archetypal figure. The women she paints are free, modern, and complex. She portrays them as sources of life and energy, elevated by her use of resin — the artist’s signature material — which brings a vibrant translucency and captivating plays of light to her pieces.
