“If I approach photography the way I approach the piano, it’s because I want my images to be heard by as many people as possible.” This statement by Christelle Duval, known as Chris D, reveals the very essence of her artistic approach: to transpose the language of music into that of image, to harmonize forms and colors as one tunes a piano, to make the soul resonate.

An artist with many lives, Christelle Duval was first a piano teacher, then a singer, songwriter, performer, and cultural project manager in Luxembourg. When the Covid crisis disrupted her path in 2020, she transformed the ordeal into a creative impulse. She trained in digital design, earned a degree as a web designer, and reinvented herself as a photo-graphic artist in Kœnigsmacker, Moselle. A natural transition, guided by her lifelong passion: photography.

Under the name Chris D, she creates an original universe at the crossroads of reality and imagination. She defines herself as a “photographist” — a free fusion of photographer and graphic designer. Using her own shots — objects, textures, animals, everyday or travel landscapes — she composes hybrid, emotional, narrative works. Superimpositions, edits, and digital collages become the notes of a single visual chord. Each image, poetically crafted, tells a story while leaving the viewer free to project their own.

But Chris D is not seeking institutional recognition or grand theories. Her art follows an inner rhythm, a sincere path. She exhibits in Metz, on a river barge, in Basse-Ham, and in places of life and exchange. She has also been invited to the Luxembourg Art Fair, never losing sight of what matters most: the human connection.

For her, art is an act of transmission — a sensitive opening toward others. “My creations are based on photos of objects, settings, textures, and animals that I take in various everyday places or during my travels. They are then carefully selected, superimposed, and reworked to tell you a colorful story or convey a particular message.” This approach defines an art that is close, accessible, yet never ordinary.

Her series — *Body Art Maker*, *Romantic*, *Universe*, *Fairy Art*, *Pop Art*, *Collection Lunelle*, *Empreintes* — reveal a sensitive gaze upon the world and humanity. Chris D does not seek to impress but to awaken. Through subtle gestures, she invites us to slow down, to see differently, to remember that art can also comfort, color, and beautify.
