Chantal Lallemand

Art Collect - Chantal-Lallemand

Born in 1960 in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of Burgundy, Chantal Lallemand is the second of six children. Her mother, a costume designer and artist at heart, passed on to her a love of creation from an early age. In the family home, brushes, easels, gold threads, and fabrics intertwined. It was in this sensitive and creative environment that her intimate connection to art was born — a connection she would nurture quietly for many years.

Chantal’s professional life was first marked by dedication and responsibility. A nurse, then a director of institutions, she later became an executive in a major private group. But a health crisis forced her to suspend her career. This trial, far from breaking her, opened an inner path. Painting, long dormant, once again became central. She began with acrylics, then experimented using her fingers, nails, materials, and textures. Very soon, the brush gave way to the body in motion — and she found her language.

On large linen canvases laid on the floor, she turns, observes, brushes, caresses the material. Barefoot, attuned to her inner breath, she lets the music guide her movements — often Pink Floyd accompanies her creation. The first emotion determines the starting color. Nothing is planned in advance. Painting becomes surrender, fusion, a vital act. Her abstract works are crossed by vibrant tensions, delicate nuances, and intuitive compositions.

But Chantal doesn’t stop there. She blends her painting with her passion for embroidery, inherited from her mother. Glass or crystal beads then adorn the canvas, continuing the harmony of tones. This meticulous, almost jeweler-like work brings added depth to her paintings. Sugar, shimmering powder, and brown sugar become artistic materials, poetically repurposed into her visual language.

In her series “Echoes”, Chantal Lallemand explores silence, intimacy, and the elusive. Her canvases, sometimes reworked over several months, are never truly finished. They evolve, allow themselves to be traversed, and question. They touch the viewer instantly, awakening an emotional resonance within.

Today, her work is exhibited in prestigious venues — Paris, Monaco, Giverny, as well as London, Miami, and New York. Each piece is a fragment of soul, a trace of presence, a living material that invites contemplation.
