Cécile Delanoë

Art Collect Store - Cecile Delanoe

There is, in Cécile Delanoë, an invisible thread that connects gestures, materials, and worlds — a thread of light, no doubt. Perhaps that is why glass imposed itself on her as her chosen medium: translucent, sometimes sharp, sometimes fluid, always alive.

Before becoming a glass artist, Cécile explored another stage — that of theater. Trained in costume design, she created silhouettes for the performing arts, characters made of fabric and movement. Then, in 2014, she left the wings for the unknown and set out on a formative journey to Indonesia. There, in the rhythm of the tides and the blue silences, she became a diving instructor. Beneath the surface, she discovered another world. Immersion became revelation.

It was through her encounter with the ocean that her first obsession was born: the jellyfish — a translucent, moving, almost unreal being. She began to draw them, to imagine a way to pay them homage — to their slow, silent grace, their fluid beauty, and their fragility. It would be through glass. The Abyssal project began to take shape.

Back in Europe, Cécile immersed herself in the art of thermoformed glass. She shapes her jellyfish piece by piece, tentacle by tentacle, using float glass sheets and custom-made molds. Some incorporate intelligent LED lighting systems programmed to let the light breathe autonomously. Others host a filament bulb, diffusing a soft, almost organic warmth.

Her creations are not mere decorative objects — they are suspended presences. Sculptures of light and silence. Each jellyfish seems to float between two worlds: air and water, reality and dream. Their texture and transparency awaken both an ancient memory and a new awareness. They speak to us of beauty, but also of warning — of everything that slowly fades when we cease to look.

In Cécile Delanoë’s work, glass becomes a language of awakening. It captures light to better capture attention. It offers a space for contemplation — a poetic ecology.

With Abyssal, Cécile offers us an aquatic mirror — that of a world to protect, a beauty to slow down for, a moment to truly feel. More than a work of art, it is a manifesto — an invitation to descend into the depths, not to lose oneself, but to find oneself again.
