Belinha Silva

Art is the nourishment of my soul!
Art Collect - Belinha-Silva

Born in Lisbon, Belinha Silva left Portugal at an early age to grow up between Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Greece. A nomadic childhood, woven with multiple influences, which undoubtedly shaped her early artistic curiosity. From a young age, she took part in children’s painting competitions, winning several prizes — including second place at the age of twelve in a contest organized by the Portuguese Consulate in Luxembourg.

Yet her creative aspirations were long put on hold. Coming from a background where art was not encouraged, she studied finance and accounting. A brilliant European career opened before her, but art never left her: throughout her travels, she visited museums and galleries, drawing from them what she calls “the nourishment of my soul.”

It was in Brussels, between 2005 and 2007, that everything changed. In art studios, she discovered the visceral pleasure of creation and allowed herself to be carried away by a multifaceted inspiration. She painted in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, worked with porcelain and silk, sculpted, and even designed jewelry. But it was in 2017 that she found her signature: a hybrid technique she calls “Painting on canvas with hand-painted porcelain fragments.” In it, she combines classical painting with porcelain pieces broken by hand, meticulously painted and fired at very high temperatures. Each fragment becomes a pixel of emotion, each canvas a work that is both contemporary and timeless.

This unique approach, where intuition and heritage converge, propelled Belinha onto the international art scene. In 2020, she submitted her creations to online contemporary art competitions and won several awards. Since then, she has exhibited at the Monat Gallery in Madrid, the Rossocinabro Gallery in Rome, as well as at the International Contemporary Art Salons in Luxembourg and Brussels.

Her works — often abstract, surreal, or bordering on pop art — are windows open to emotions, memories, and the intertwined influences of the cultures she has lived in. A free artist, Belinha Silva follows no school; she prefers to listen to what her inner world whispers. A singular, vibrant voice where the modernity of material meets the delicacy of the senses.
