Born in Béziers in 1951, Annie Valat has always moved between two callings: caring and creating. Trained as a nurse, she has also nurtured a lifelong passion for painting, which she began exploring in Languedoc art studios in the 1980s. There, she discovered the graphic and plastic arts, learned to handle pigments, and to listen to the impulses of the soul through matter.
Under her artist name Anval, she expresses herself authentically within the movement of “sensitive abstraction.” Over the years, she has deepened her practice through workshops in Béziers and Nice, as well as classes with the renowned watercolorist Alain Marc. This intuitive training has shaped her style — free, emotional, and instinctive.
