Annie de Boer

Art Collect - Annie-de-Boer

A self-taught artist rooted in the Impressionist tradition, Annie de Boer has always painted as naturally as one breathes. Her journey began with watercolor, driven by a constant love for nature, its shifting lights, and subtle hues. One day, a decisive encounter with a renowned artist changed her path — he advised her to move to oil painting. Encouraged, she devoted herself passionately to it in the late 1990s, mastering the knife technique with intensity.

Her first oil paintings were vibrant tributes to nature: blooming fields, majestic trees, rivers, and bucolic landscapes. Each work is born from an emotion felt during a walk. For Annie, painting is a way to transmit love — love with a capital L. Her art is a balm, inviting the viewer to escape, to gentleness, and to contemplation.

Annie de Boer’s universe is defined by a romantic touch and a keen, truthful gaze. Nature in her work is alive, vibrant, and sincere. It is no surprise that Claude Monet, the master of light and gardens, is among her greatest sources of inspiration. Her painting Giverny, a tribute to the place and spirit of the artist, bears witness to this. Likewise, Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe offers a pastoral scene bathed in serenity, where vegetation and shimmering light intertwine.

From as early as 1997, her talent was recognized: she received the First Public Prize at the International Salon of Charavines, followed by a Silver Medal at the “Europa” Salon in Valence. Awards continued to follow, both in France and abroad — Gold Medal in Arles, Public Prize in Miami, distinctions in Rome, Geneva, Tokyo, Doha, Toronto, and even New York. In 2014, she exhibited at the Museum of Palermo, and in 2015, she took part in the exhibition celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower.

Annie de Boer’s work, both timeless and sensitive, speaks straight to the heart. It expresses a universal language — that of wonder. Through matter, light, and color, this remarkable artist of her generation paints the beauty of the world like a whispered prayer upon the surface of her canvases.
