Brigitte Dravet

Originally from the South of France, where she still lives and works today, Brigitte Dravet likes to say she is an “artist by birth.” Since childhood, following in the footsteps of her architect father, she has explored the world through gesture and creation — drawing, collage, painting, crafting… The hands come before the words, and matter becomes language. She attended the School of Plastic Arts in Nice (1978–1979), then in Cergy-Pontoise (1980–1982), before opening herself to other forms of creation: painted sets, photography, video, mural painting, design, interior decoration…

But her path has not been linear. Curious about the body and the soul, Brigitte trained in sophrology, Qi Gong, and Vietnamese and Tibetan gymnastics. She leads workshops on well-being and self-massage and teaches breathing and body awareness. Her artistic approach is inseparable from this holistic vision: to create is to connect, to transform, to heal.

In 2000, she received the Public Prize at the 17th Rendez-Vous des Jeunes Plasticiens in La Garde. Since then, she has exhibited regularly — notably in Miami since 2021 — and has obtained an official certification of her artist rating (€1,000), as well as a special jury prize for her body of work at the *Talents de Femmes 83* salon.

Her signature series — *Abstract Landscapes*, *Blue Lagoons*, and *Trash Walls* — reveal a pictorial language that is at once organic, alchemical, and poetic. *Abstract Landscapes* evokes mental territories made of light, oxidation, and fissures, where gold and copper emerge from the raw roughness of materials. *Blue Lagoons* explores the magic of gesture and chance: liquid pigments poured freely, the random paths of color, the interplay of rust, water, and metal — oxidation both controlled and liberated. *Trash Walls*, meanwhile, brings forth vast fragments of mural memory: plasters, stencils, mineral textures, and patinas that evoke the worn, scratched, timeworn walls of history.

Art Collect Store - Brigitte Dravet

Brigitte Dravet works with matter as if it were living memory. She is also deeply involved in an artistic upcycling process: she collects old shop mannequins — abandoned objects that she reimagines, transforms, and heals. “By reclaiming them, I heal a little of their wounded souls, and in return, they help me reconcile with my own body,” she confides. This same dynamic can be found in her jewelry creations, made from fragments of painted canvases, varnished and set into brass, which she transforms into bracelets, pendants, and earrings.

In all her works, Brigitte Dravet weaves an alliance between creation and restoration, between matter and light, between buried past and sensitive rebirth.

From the very first day of our holiday in Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer, I saw it displayed in the gallery — it was love at first sight! Its simplicity and colors immediately captivated me. I showed it to the love of my life, and he agreed… Thank you, Brigitte, for this masterpiece. I truly feel it was made for our new home, where it looks absolutely stunning.
